Autumn 2009 - Newsletter

Sorry this newsletter is a little late - we have been very busy just lately - which is great of course - thank you :-)

The next newsletter is due in January 2010 so we have put a note about Xmas Opening Hours at the bottom of this one even though it feels far to early to think about that.

NEW ITEMS

We have added a few new items in the last couple of months. There are a few more to add so keep an eye on the Forum.

Our previous supplier of Pearl Beads has discontinued them (still a few left), so we have now got some from Trimits. We have 4 bead sizes in 2 packs sizes in White only at the moment. They do more sizes and different colours which we will stock in the future if they are popular.

Sequins and Confetti are popular at any time of the year for weddings, parties, scrapbooking and card making. We have added 2 existing designs in smaller pack sizes in the Confetti and lots of new sizes in the Star Sequins.

As an experiment we got a few Plastic Animal Beads in stock - we brought a mixed bag to start with but should be able to get some in single designs and colours on request. More info on Forum as soon as we can.

Glitter is big this year and so is customising old clothes to bring them back to life. We have 3 more colours in Hot Fix Iron-on Glitter Sheets and 2 new designs in Glitter Foam Stickers. Also for accessorising we have lots of new Iron-on Motifs with more to come.

As usual - all these items were noted on the Customer Forum - full list below.

If you want to comment on anything in this Newsletter or anything else about our website / stock please email us at or add a message on the Customer Forum.

CRAFT BITS GUESTBOOK

We have been asked in the Exit Page Survey for a Guestbook so you can give us feedback about our service. We have now set one up and it can be found HERE. This link will also be in the 'parcel sent' email we send out and on the Info Page on our website.

If you have feedback or requests for us other than about our service then please use our Customer Forum or email us.

XMAS OPENING HOURS

As we are a family run firm we do have to close down when we have a holiday. This year we did not have a summer break so have tagged a couple of days on the end of the Xmas/New Year closure.

The website will still be open for orders all the while we are closed and your card details will be held on a Secure Server that only CPU Enterprises Staff can access.

Our last posting day will be Wednesday 23rd December but you would need to order before 6pm on Tuesday 22nd December for it to be posted on that date. We will open again on Friday 8th January 2010 but it is unlikely that many orders will actually be posted on that day. We will do our best to ensure that all orders will be posted by Monday 11th January.

More details will be on the Customer Forum shortly, including last posting dates for Xmas published by Royal Mail. The closed dates will also be shown on the website Home Page and in the Shopping Basket nearer the time.

We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and hope you understand we all need a break :-)

CRAFT KITS WEBSITE

Don't forget that www.craft-kits.co.uk has lots of Stocking Fillers for kids of all ages plus some great beginner kits.

We hope you are happy with the direction we are going in and really do look forward to hearing from you all - by email, Guestbook or on the Customer Forum.

Summer 2009 - Newsletter

NEW ITEMS

It has been a busy couple of months for us with lots of new things going online. There are still a couple more new items to come in the following months so keep an eye on the forum.

When we visited the Stitches Trade Show back in February we saw two new things from one of our current suppliers.

Firstly - Iron-on Motifs - we have been asked a few times for this sort of thing and lots of customers on our sister site Dianne's Knitting Yarns have also expressed an interest. So we have put a few online in various subjects and sizes. They range from 70p to 3.40 and in size from 3cm x 1cm to 8cm x 8cm including some Winnie the Pooh. We only have a couple of each in stock so if you know you need a few let us know and we will order them for you. Also if there is a subject we don't stock then please get in touch - there are lots more we can order.

Secondly is a great product which we saw demonstrated at Stitches - Hot Fix Iron-on Glitter Sheets. We have 10 colours including Gold, Silver and Hologram in 15cm x 20cm sheets. You can cut them easily then just iron on to your chosen fabric - they can be layered up for different effects and washed at 40C. We think that during the credit crunch this is the perfect way to give new life to old tops and jeans.

Also new this Quarter are more packs of the ever popular Foam Stickers and Shapes. Following the glitter theme above we have 3 new Glitter Foam Sticker packs. There are also lots of others (full list below) plus some great 3D stickers in 2 pack sizes (1.45 or 2.50) in lots of different subjects.

Among our biggest sellers are Safety Eyes and Noses - we have some new colours and sizes plus Triangular Noses are back in stock. We have also managed to get some Frog Joggle Eyes - although they are called Frog Eyes they could be used for anything - especially good for a Boggle Eyed Monster 8-)

A full list of all the new items are below, they were all noted on the Customer Forum when they went online.

PACK SIZES

One of the reasons we think our Eyes are popular is that we do sell just one pair if that is what you want. Many customers buy one of each size or colour and then come back for full packs. But we also feel that the customer who just wants to repair a teddy or make a special gift for a child should also be able to buy from us. This is a service we will always continue with and have also changed some other items to smaller packs too.

We will also shortly be re-doing all the cord pages so that you can buy in however many metres you want instead of set pack sizes. This does make a bit more work for us but we think it is important to give the customer the extra choice.

If there is an item you would like us to look at selling in smaller (or larger) packs sizes then please do get in touch.

CRAFT KITS WEBSITE

Don't forget that www.craft-kits.co.uk has lots of Pocket Money Kits for kids of all ages plus some great beginner kits. The following have been put online recently.

If you want to comment on anything in this Newsletter or anything else about our website / stock please email us at or add a message on the Customer Forum - we really do look forward to hearing from you all.

Spring 2009 - Newsletter

NEW ITEMS

We had a busy time at the Stitches Trade Show in February and found a few good suppliers. We have brought some new stuff, lots of samples and catalogues which we are sorting through. One of the suppliers sells many more colours in the Cotton and Leather Thonging so we are quite excited about that - plus we are looking at selling all our cords by the metre rather than just in 3m or 5m packs. Let us know if you would be interested in this.

While at the show we got an offer of some Pony Bead Lacing which we absolutely love - it is so soft, colourful and pliable. They are 'while stocks last' but great value so couldn't resist. Each pack has over 18m of Cord which is hollow so you can put wire through it to shape your 'creation' if you wish. It also means you can join the ends using the little connectors supplied instead of knotting.

One thing we know kids love are their mobile phones, and phone charms are big at the moment. We now have the cords you use to attach your own charms to the phone, in 4 great colours. Plus - if you just want one - no problem.

As usual - all these items were noted on the Customer Forum when they went online - full list below.

We have also got quite a few new kits for the Craft Kits website - full list at the bottom of this email.

ROYAL MAIL PRICE INCREASE

The majority of our parcels go by Royal Mail Packet because they do not fit through the 25mm depth slot to be sent by Large Letter. With quite a big jump in the price of postage for that size of parcel we have worked out that leaving our postage prices where they were meant we were losing money on quite a few of our orders. Therefore we put a message on our forum asking for feedback on this issue and got quite a few emails - most were positive :-)

When the postage prices went up on 6th April our website was amended to the following. Free postage on orders of 10 or over and a p+p cost of 1.50 for orders below 10. There will probably be lots of links and search engines out there that still give the old p+p costs but we are trying to contact and change as many as we can. More information on this on the forum/Messages section.

If you want to comment on this or anything else about our Newsletter / website / stock please email us at or add a message on the Customer Forum.

FUN AND GAMES SECTION

Some of you will know we have a Fun & Games section on the Craft Kits website. You can also get to it via the Customer Pages on the Craft Bits website. We are trying out some 'Flash' games which are a little more challenging and interesting. You will need a Flash Player to use them which it is just a little add-on for your browser which can be downloaded from the Adobe Website - link on the games pages.

Each Flash game has it's own top score page which is just for people who access the games via our websites. The games are going to change regularly unless they are popular, so if you like a game keep playing and putting on your scores :-) However the Easter Egg game will be disappearing after the Easter Holidays so best 'get cracking' now.

CRAFT KITS WEBSITE

Just put on the Craft Kits website are lots of new little Cross Stitch Kits from Mouseloft - perfect little pocket money crafts or to put in your handbag while out. They include more Biscuit the Cat, Christmas Stitchlets (yes I know its almost 9 months away but it's never too early to start), Special Occasion Cards and Tiddlers. There is also a brand new range called Friendly Planet - 12 cute kits of animals from bats to owls, hedgehogs to badgers, with a great cow and sheep !!

Also new this month - Super Value Craft Kits. They are quite popular in the US and we have 6 types in stock at the moment. Each one contains a really great 16 page fully illustrated instruction handbook and enough cord to do plenty of the items. Some of the kits also include other bits and bobs. At just 1.99 plus p+p they are great to keep the kids (or adults!!) happy for hours.

We now do many more of the Daisy Design Ranges including some printed canvas cross stitch kits called Early Fun which include a Flexi-Frame. Not many people do printed as it is so fiddly to do - the new range are all Christmas Themed. There are 2 Fun-Box kits which each include 4 items so are great value. For teenagers there are some new kits in the Sew Funky range and for older beginners there are Starter Kits or Extra Fun Kits. We have also stocked up on more Xmas Card Kits and they are already going well.

If you want to comment on anything in this Newsletter or anything else about our website / stock please email us at or add a message on the Customer Forum - we really do look forward to hearing from you all.

Winter 2008 - Newsletter

Been a bit quiet for new stock this quarter, we have been concentrating on our Knitting Yarn side of the main business lately. But in the new year we will be doing a overhaul of all our stock and checking out the new stuff available at the Stitches Trade Show. Suggestions already made and some new suppliers will be looked at, along with any new suggestions you make.

We have had a couple of people asking if we can combine orders for our 3 sites (CB, CK, DKY) which unfortunately we are unable to do. But we have decided that the kits which used to be on CB and were moved to the new CPU Craft Kits site, should be put back on CB. Therefore one of the main things we have been doing, and still are doing, is putting some of them back online.

Our usual supplier of Magnets has been out of stock for months and months although some have just come back in. In the mean time we found a new supplier who has different widths and pack sizes in the Self Adhesive Strips and Squares. These are now online but limited stock - we will be getting more if the new sizes are popular.

We have also had problems (with the same supplier) changing the quality of the Jingle Bells they supply but charging us the same price! They have promised they will have some of the better ones again next year but we are looking at other suppliers too. We have noted the number of quality bells we have left so please don't order more than it is noted. As soon as we get some more, or a different supplier, we will let you know. If we can get the cheaper looking bells at a cheaper price would you be interested? Or is quality more important than price? Please let us know.

Most of the following items were noted on the Customer Forum when they went online.

  • Self Adhesive Magnetic Strip 12mm wide - 50cm, 1m, 5m packs
  • Self Adhesive Magnetic Strip 25mm wide - 50cm, 1m, 5m packs
  • Self Adhesive Magnetic 25mm Squares - packs of 5 and 25
  • Square Aperture Cards in White back in stock
  • End of line items - 14 Count Aida

CRAFT KITS WEBSITE

Don't forget that www.craft-kits.co.uk has lots of Stocking Fillers for kids of all ages plus some great beginner kits. There are also some little Cross Stitch kits from Mouseloft and Daisy Designs. There is a link to a list of Xmas Themed kits on the home page.

HOLIDAY OPENING HOURS

Full details of the opening hours of the Craft Bits Warehouse and CPU Office over the holidays are now noted on the Website main page. There are also all the last posting dates which Royal Mail have set for parcels to arrive by Xmas. Click HERE to open a copy.

HOLIDAY WEBSITE UPDATES

The website will not be updated, orders will not be despatched and emails may not be answered, while we re-charge our batteries during the holiday closure. I do keep an eye on emails and answer any urgent ones while I am on holiday (much to hubbies annoyance) but it might take a couple of days if I am having fun. The shopping basket will still be active but you will not be able to phone your card details - this will be noted in the shopping basket.

VAT STATEMENT

This change came as a bit of a shock to us - we spent the week before the announcement saying "he wouldn't be as silly as to change VAT surely". So when it happened we were stunned. We don't want to get political here - we have put out a statement about our current position. A copy is on the forum and on the website Info page.

If you want to comment on anything in this Newsletter or anything else about our website / stock please email us at or add a message on the Customer Forum - we really do look forward to hearing from you all.

Finally, everyone at Craft Bits, Craft Kits and CPU would like to wish you all good health and prosperity over this holiday time and in the new year.

Autumn 2008 - Newsletter

NEW ITEMS

Christmas is coming, Christmas is coming ........, I know most people don't want to hear that but crafters do need to start early to get everything done. What better way of making the pennies go further than making your own decorations, cards and presents. You can even get the kids involved !! We have put various Xmas goodies online but many are 'while stocks last'. There are quite a few last minute Halloween bits and bobs too. Full list below.

Also new this Quarter are the Clasp and Findings Kits. The Clasps Kit contains 60 clasps plus 4m wire, the Findings Kit contain over 120 various findings plus nylon thread - all in a handy box.

We have added a few new colours in the thinner sizes of Elastic Cord and still have some of the Stretch Magic Handbooks available - it has instructions for lots of different items in various thicknesses of elastic. The special offer to buy 2 reels (0.5mm Clear & 1mm Clear) and get the book free is still available at the moment.

We have been asked many times for Flat Leather Thonging with a suede look - Black and Brown are now online in packs of 3m and reels of 25m.

The new Nylon Cord has already been very popular so we have added some new colours - including Christmas Red and Green.

As usual - all these items were noted on the Customer Forum when they went online - full list below.

If you want to comment on this or anything else about our website or stock please email us at or add a message on the Customer Forum.

Summer 2008 - Newsletter

NEW ITEMS

Quite a few new things have been added to the site since the last newsletter in March 2008. More Pony Beads have been added including Brown Opaque - yes I did say Brown. At long last these are back in stock after a couple of years when we couldn't get any.

We also have a great 'how to' book for the Stretch Magic Elastic Beading Cord - the book comes with one or two reels of cord. The book uses all sizes of cord including the new size we have online - 0.7mm - black only at the moment but we hope to have other colours soon.

We have a poll on the website where you can give your opinion on what type of Jewellery Findings you want us to stock. Please Click HERE. One of the items asked for was Earwires - we have got some packs in but they are a mixed pack with hoops too. We can't open them up to have a really good look so if you buy a pack please let us know what they are like.

Foam Stickers and Shapes are great way to get kids involved with crafts - what easier way of creating cards or scrapbooks than foam stickers. We have a massive selection of 62 packs and have put a full list on a single page so you can see them all in one place. Included in the new packs online this month are chunky Alphabet, Numbers and Monsters - so even boys can get in on the act.

As usual - all these items were noted on the Customer Forum when they went online - full list below.

CRAFT KITS WEBSITE

The CPU Craft Kits website has the following new kits now in stock.

SUMMER HOLIDAYS

Craft Bits and Craft Kits will be closed for a couple of weeks from 26th June. As it is our 20th Anniversary around then, my husband and I will be going back to Jersey where we spent our Honeymoon. As we don't like closing the websites, except for a bit at Xmas, we don't often get a Summer Holiday so we are really looking forward to soaking up some sun for a change. However it does mean that we will not be able to post out any orders during that time.

As you probably know CPU Enterprises is a family firm and everyone will be busy keeping our larger sister site (Dianne's Knitting Yarns) going while we are away. However you can still place orders while we are closed - there will be a note on the website and in the Shopping Basket just incase you forget. Orders placed while we are away will be securely stored and filled as soon as we can when we get back. Also all the CPU Enterprise websites may not be updated while we are away, but I will try and answer any urgent emails. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused, we do hope you understand and will continue to order from us when we re-open on July 14th.

If you want to comment on anything in this Newsletter or anything else about our website / stock please email us at or add a message on the Customer Forum - we really do look forward to hearing from you all.

Spring 2008 - Newsletter

NEW ITEMS

Pony Beads are one of our most popular items. We know they are not for 'high end' jewellery but they are such fun for kids and make really bright and cheerful stuff for not much money. Not just necklaces, bracelets & hair braids either - we have customers who make models out of them too. If you have any more ideas or pictures of what you have done with them, or any other item we supply, then please feel free to add them to the Customer Forum.

Back to the new beads - 3 new colour ways in the shaped beads - Clear, Glow in the Dark and Neon (bright colours not fluorescent!). There are also 5 new colours in the 9x6 Opaque and 2 in the 9x6 Clear. We are still hopeful that we will eventually be able to get some brown ones - fingers crossed. There will also be some metallic gold and silver ones online very shortly - but they do work out more expensive because of the extra coating process they go through.

Someone on the Customer Forum asked about Brooch Backs - we had been thinking of expanding into Jewellery Findings etc. for some time (it's where I started!) so decided to look into it. We now have 3 different sizes in both Gold and Silver colours, along with some Necklace Clasps & Tags, in various pack sizes on the website.

As usual - all these items were noted on the Customer Forum when they went online - full list below. We also note on the Forum what new items are coming soon. We are still looking at what other different type of Jewellery Findings you want us to stock. There is a poll where you can give your opinion - Please Click HERE.

If you want to comment on this or anything else about our website or stock please email us at or add a message on the Customer Forum.

CRAFT KITS WEBSITE

All the kits that were previous on the Craft Bits website are now on the CPU Craft Kits Website. The Kits site is a bit of an experiment as it is not using the same format as on the other CPU websites (Craft Bits and Dianne's Knitting Yarns ). Postage is worked out per order but the kits are cheaper to counter this, the pages are also set out differently. Many of the Kits on the new website were never available on the CB site so please take a look. Please let us know what you think of the site & new kits - feedback is always welcome.

Don't forget that the office and warehouse are closed all Bank Holidays (i.e. Easter) but the websites and shopping Baskets are open 24/7.

We hope you are happy with the direction we are going in and really do look forward to hearing from you all - by email or on the Customer Forum.

NEW ITEMS

Only a few new items have been added since the Last Newsletter - they were noted on the Customer Forum when they went online - full list below. Now we have more room we will be looking seriously at the size of packs we do and different types of items including Jewellery Findings. There is a poll where you can give your opinion on which Findings we should stock - Please Click HERE.

There is a link to a list of all the Xmas type items on the main page of the website - or click HERE - there is still time to get that last minute stocking filler.

CRAFT KITS WEBSITE

All the kits on the Craft Bits website have now been moved over to the new CPU Craft Kits Website. We did explain the reasons behind this in the last Newsletter - please click HERE to view past CB Newsletters. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause to any of our customers and really hope you understand our position. However there are LOTS of stocking fillers on that site now so please have a browse

CRAFT BITS CUSTOMER FORUM

Don't forget that some of the information in the newsletters is also put on the CB Customer Forum. That is the best place to get up to date information on new items and any messages we have for you. For instance, the Holiday Opening Hours noted above were put on the forum first.

We hope you are happy with the direction we are going in and really do look forward to hearing from you all - by email or on the Customer Forum.

Autumn 2007 - Newsletter

Teddy and Cats eyes are one of our biggest sellers (along with Pony Beads) so we are really pleased that we can now supply more sizes in the Teddy eyes and a new colour in the Cats eyes. Whisker noses and Cats noses which had previously been 'While Stocks Last' or sold out are now back in stock. We hope we can put them all online in the larger packs sizes too - but we need to make a bit of room first (see 'Craft Kits Website' further down this email).

NEW ITEMS

A few new items have been added since the Last Newsletter - they were noted on the Customer Forum when they went online - full list below.

NON-UK ORDERS

Royal Mail are changing the way they bill us for Non-UK Postage. From Saturday 1st September we have to get up to a minimum postage price per collection. That minimum price is quite low so it should not be a problem but occasionally it may mean we can't post Non-UK orders until we have a few to send at the same time. However next year they are putting the minimum up by 400% so this will delay Non-UK orders. We have changed the terms and conditions to reflect this delay. This only affects Non-UK orders - normal UK parcels will still be sent as quickly as we do now.

CRAFT KITS WEBSITE

Over the next 2 months all the 'Kits' will be removed from the Craft Bits website - we would like the CB site to be just 'Bits'. There will be links on the CB pages to the new Craft Kits website. We know this may be an inconvenience to some customers but we hope the new kits and lower prices on the new site will compensate. One of the reasons we are splitting the sites is the Royal Mail postage rules which started in April. Another reason is that kits are easier to pick and will be transferred to the DKY Warehouse, which will leave the CB staff more time to deal with the counting of beads and eyes etc. It will also free up quite a bit of space so we can get more packs of the Teddy eyes in stock - then we can sell them in the larger packs sizes.

If you want to comment on this or anything else about our website or stock please email us at or add a message on the Customer Forum.

Summer 2007 - Newsletter

The biggest change in the last few months has been the Forum. It stopped working and despite the effort of 3 different 'experts' we have not been able to get it fixed, although we are still trying. Life without a forum was not good, so we bit the bullet and set up a new forum. We managed to move all the members across but have not been able to add the old posts - I know some members are upset about that. However the new forum has some nice features including Members Polls and you can still view the old forum - you just can't post.

NEW ITEMS

A few new items have been added since the Last Newsletter - they were noted on the Customer Forum when they went online - full list below.

COMING SOON

We are hoping to get the following in stock shortly.

  • Bear and Heart Foam Stickers
  • Script Alphabet Foam Stickers
  • Puppies Foam Stickers
  • Kitties Foam Stickers
  • The Bead Cafe - White Pearl Beads
  • The Bead Cafe - Cream Pearl Beads
  • The Bead Cafe - Cord and Wire Packs
  • The Bead Cafe - Tiger tail packs

NEW WEBSITE

The new CPU Enterprises website - www.craft-kits.co.uk is going strong and lots of new kits have just been added. The Daisy Designs Cross Stitch Kits will only be available on the Craft Kits site - they will not be added to the Craft Bits site. We will also be removing all the kits from the Craft Bits site eventually so that website is just for craft components. There are also lots of Mouseloft Kits coming soon to the Craft Kits site - these are great little Pocket Money Kits - some as low as 99p. A new section has been added to the Craft Bits Forum to update you about Craft Kits stock.

If you want to comment on this or anything else about our website or stock please email us at or add a message on the Customer Forum.

TEDDY EYES

Along with Cats eyes, these are one of our most popular lines. Unfortunately most of the manufacturering seems to have stopped. We have been buying up as many as we can from all our suppliers but they are quickly running out. New suppliers are currently being investigated - more info as soon as we can.

NEW WEBSITE

CPU Enterprises have added a new website - www.craft-kits.co.uk. As the name would suggest it will be full of Craft Kits. Most of the kits already on the DKY site and the Craft Bits site are on the new site. But more importantly - there will be lots of new ones coming in April/May. We have decided to concentrate on Children and Beginner kits to start with - mainly in Cross Stitch, Long Stitch and Tapestry. We will be adding a new section to the Craft Bits forum to inform you when the new stock comes in.

If you want to comment on this or anything else about our website or stock please email us at or add a message on the Customer Forum.

Quite a few new items have been added since the Last Newsletter - they were noted on the Customer Forum when they went online - full list below. Many of them are Kits and Stocking Fillers which would be perfect for last minute Xmas presents.

DISCONTINUED ITEMS

In order to ring the changes we are discontinuing quite a few items - most are already noted as 'While Stocks Last' and the rest will be shortly. Some of the New Stock shown above is also 'While Stocks Last' as we brought them from our suppliers discontinued stock - the prices reflect this. Where we can we have put the number of packs we have left on the WebPage or a link to another page (Teddy & Cats eyes). Please remember that the pages do not update automatically - they are changed as soon as we see the item has gone. It is a good idea to refresh your browser page just in case you have an old page and the number of items have changed. If an item has sold out we will email you as soon as we can.

WEBSITE PROBLEMS

A few months ago we had some problems with the website and was not able to update it for long periods of time. We have moved most of the pages to a new hoster (under the CPU Enterprises site) and things have improved. This means you may occasionally get a page opening in a new window when they shouldn't and you will sometimes see www.cpu-enterprises.com/craftbits/... in the URL window instead of www.craftbits.co.uk. If you find any problems please let us know - it is difficult to check the site under all possible conditions so feedback is always welcome.

HOLIDAY OPENING HOURS

Full details are on the Customer Forum and on the Main Page of the website. We will again be closed for 2 weeks to allow us all to re-charge our batteries for 2007. The website will not be updated, orders will not be despatched and emails may not be answered. I do keep an eye on emails and answer any urgent ones but it might take a couple of days. The shopping basket will still be active and you can place orders at any time while we are closed but you will not be able to phone your card details - this will be noted in the shopping basket.

ROYAL MAIL

The new Royal Mail Pricing in Proportion System has had a major effect on our postage costs as many of our items are lightweight but bulky. We have had to put the price for small orders up to 1 and put up the limit where postage becomes free to 8. We did see a slight drop in orders when we did this but that time did coincide with when we had problems with the website (see above) so it may have been that.

You may find your parcel is packed slightly strangely to try and get it to go through the new 25mm slot. Many of the smaller items would pass through the slot to get the cheaper postage rate if we did not bubble wrap them. However, as this is more likely to cause breakages when the thinner parcels go through the Royal Mail machinery, we will continue to wrap items and pay the extra postage.

We are sorry for any inconvenience any of this may cause and hope you understand the reasons behind it.

If you want to comment on this or anything else about our website or stock please email us at or add a message on the Customer Forum.

We hope you are happy with the direction we are going in and really do look forward to hearing from you all - by email or on the Customer Forum.

Everyone at Craft Bits would like to wish you every happiness during this holiday time and a prosperous New Year.

Summer/Autumn 2006 - Newsletter

Once again we start with an apology for sending out a late Newsletter - however this time we are not just a couple of weeks late but a couple of months. Time just seems to run away and we really don't know where it has gone !!

NEW AND DISCONTINUED

Quite a few new items have been added since the Spring Newsletter - they were noted on the Customer Forum when they went online - full list below.

We were hoping to continue supplying Polystyrene Shapes with a 3 week delay but have found this impossible to put into practice. Therefore we have reluctantly had to discontinue them altogether - there are a few left but when they have gone we will not be able to get any more.

Some colours of Safety Teddy and Cats eyes have been discontinued. The main manufacturer went out of business quite some time ago, we had been buying as many as we could but we have now run out of suppliers to try. We have put a list of the number of pairs we have left on the website which we will try and keep as up to date as possible.

ROYAL MAIL

The new Royal Mail Pricing in Proportion System is going to have a major effect on our postage costs when it starts on 21st August 2006. We have been 'testing' the new prices over the last few weeks and have had a bit of a shock. Every day during the last 3 weeks our postage would have gone up if the new system had been in place - the increase ranged from 4% to 81% and averages out at about 43%. Unfortunately it is not a case of just increasing all prices or putting up the under 5 p&p charge (currently 75p). Large but light items are the main problem but if those items are part of a bigger and heavier parcel the effect is decreased. We really are at a loss as to what to do to be fair to all customers.

You may find your parcel is packed slightly strangely to try and get it to go through the new 25mm slot. Many of the smaller items would pass through the slot to get the cheaper postage rate if we did not bubble wrap them - however this is more likely to cause breakages when the thinner parcels go through the Royal Mail machinery. We are sure you can see our dilemma and if anyone has any views on this or suggestions as to what you, the customer, will accept please let us know.

If you want to comment on this or anything else about our website or stock please email us at or add a message on the Customer Forum.

NEW STOCK ADDED

Don't forget that all previous Newsletters are now available online - please click HERE. Next one should be in December (hopefully).

We hope you are happy with the direction we are going in and really do look forward to hearing from you all - by email or on the Customer Forum.
